Three keys for the reduction of working hours

The main objective of the reduction of working hours is to give workers the possibility of having more time of their own — while maintaining the company’s productivity level. The BTUI supports a change in the work model towards a shorter working day that favours productivity, a flexible starting and ending times that promote co-responsibility, and earlier meal times that promote health.

The 4-day week may be one possible way to move towards a healthier time. If well implemented, it can improve workers’ health and well-being, contribute to reducing existing inequalities, reduce environmental impacts associated with work, and increase the overall productivity. However, each sector and company is different, so the reduction of working hours may take different forms.
