TIME USE WEEK 2026
Portada » Call for proposals Time Use Week 2026
From 19 to 22 October 2026, the city of Barcelona will host the 12th edition of Time Use Week, the leading international event for promoting and exchanging knowledge and success stories on time policies: the key tools for achieving the right to time. This year’s edition will focus on social acceleration and its impact on people’s well-being. Find out more.
The event annually brings together expert voices from around the world from public institutions, research, business and social organisations, with the aim of promoting debate, from their respective fields of knowledge and experience, on how to advance towards a healthier, fairer, more efficient and sustainable organisation of time for everyone.
JOIN THE DEBATE!
We are opening two calls for applications to be part of the main programme of Time Use Week 2026.
As a new feature of this edition, we are opening two calls aimed at offering people with expertise in the proposed topic, those responsible for developing public policies, and professionals from public administrations, research centres, businesses and social organisations the opportunity to contribute to the debate with their experience and knowledge.
TIME USE WEEK 2026
This year’s edition will focus on social acceleration and its impact on people’s well-being. The combination of technological, social, and cultural changes, which occur in ever-shorter timeframes, allows us to do things faster and faster.
It seems this phenomenon should lead us to unprecedented progress. However, people struggle to keep up with society’s accelerated pace and increasingly find themselves experiencing feelings of time scarcity, anxiety, and alienation.
Various philosophical and political currents, such as Hartmut Rosa’s social acceleration, the slow movement led by Carl Honoré, the society of fatigue by Byung-Chul Han, or Kate Raworth’s doughnut economics theory, have examined this phenomenon and propose various ways to address it, which share the common denominator of seeking a more leisurely pace of life.
At Time Use Week 2026, we will reflect on the role of time policies and the relevance of the right to time in this context, continuing the reflection from the previous edition on artificial intelligence, which highlighted the need to slow down certain activities while AI allowed us to accelerate others.
The main program for Time Use Week 2026 will include conferences, roundtables, and workshops that will analyze the concept of social acceleration, its impact on people’s well-being, and solutions to address it from public administration, organizations, and the business world, with a day dedicated entirely to the right to time in the workplace, framed within the BIZ Barcelona fair.
OTHER WAYS TO COLLABORATE WITH TIME USE WEEK 2026
Following the positive reception of the last edition, Time Use Week 2026 will once again offer institutions, organizations, and companies the opportunity to participate as collaborating entities by organizing a parallel activity on time use (lecture, workshop, film forum, symbolic action, etc.).
