  • Ramon López de Mántaras Badia. Emeritus Research Professor at the CSIC’s Institute for Research in Artificial Intelligence (IIIA-CSIC), of which he was the founder and director.

This panel will analyse future trends in time use with experts in care, the world of work, and social and political participation, in dialogue with an expert in artificial intelligence and its potential impacts.

Two cities and two inspiring experiences in five minutes will show how artificial intelligence can change how we use our time.

Workshop 1. How do we introduce the time factor into the digital twin?

Target audience: local and regional governments.
Language: English.
Location: Room S7.

This workshop will explore how the digital twin tool can be used to test and design time policies, based on the experiences of cities and regions that have already developed them.

With the participation of:

  • Ramon Gras Aloma. Co-founder of Aretian Urban Analytics and Design and researcher in Urban Innovation at Harvard University.
  • Nicholas You. Executive Director of the Guangzhou Institute of Urban Innovation and Co-Chair of the Open Green City Lab in Shenzhen.

Target audience: municipalities and researchers.

This workshop will present the resources available to local authorities in Catalonia that want to promote time policies and researchers who want to monitor them, including methodological tools, funding, and technical support.

  • Clara Centeno Ruiz. Technician in the General-Directorate for Care, Time Organisation and Equity in the Workplace of the Government of Catalonia.
  • Blai Martí Plademunt. Technician at the Directorate of Feminism and LGTBI of the Barcelona City Council.
  • Pedro Martín. Equality and Time Policy Technician of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.
  • Gemma Parera Alvarez. Advisory technician in the Department of Social Sustainability, Life Cycle, and Community of the Barcelona Provincial Council.

This interactive session will feature an expert in international time use surveys, who will give us an overview of key aspects and trends, enriched by the participation of different countries that use time use data to inform their public policies.

Tuesday, 14th of October

Field visits and the General Assembly of the World Network of Local and Regional Governments for Time Use.

Schedule: 9:00h to 17:30h.

Language: English.

Audience: the scheduled activities are closed to members of the Local and Regional Governments Time Network and people participating in the International Visit Plan organized in collaboration with Catalonia International.

During the day, participants will visit various programs and services of Catalan public institutions aimed at citizens and companies, in which time policies have been implemented.

In the afternoon, the general assembly of the Local and Regional Governments Time Network will be held.

The Labour Relations Board recently published a set of guidelines to ensure the right to digital disconnection, a fundamental right to ensure healthier uses of time.

In this workshop, we will explore these guidelines and how to apply them to your company.

Time Use Week moves to the BIZ fair to bring the right to time closer to the workplace. During the day, we will talk about paid working time and address the potential of artificial intelligence for companies, organizations, and administrations to manage time more efficiently, equally, and healthily, optimizing time and resources.

There will be two plenary conferences open to all participants, and two itineraries with specialised workshops aimed at two different audiences:

  • Companies and organisations interested in improving working time [companies itinerary].
  • Elected officials and professionals from administrations responsible for economic promotion and interested in promoting better use of time for companies in their municipality [municipalities itinerary].

⚠️ ATTENTION: In order to respect the partial strike called for tomorrow, 15 October, by the UGT and CCOO trade unions, the TUW2025 events scheduled between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. have been cancelled. For this reason, the workshop ‘From theory to practice: time policies in companies’ and the plenary conference ‘AI and business productivity: Transform your time’ will not take place.
