TRANSFORMATIVE INITIATIVES
Time Use Week aims to promote the implementation of actions to improve time use in companies, organizations, local authorities, and among citizens. Its mission is to bring the right to time to local realities. That’s why we encourage citizens, companies, organizations, and local administrations to make changes in the way they organize time.
To make it easy, below we propose a list of actions you can take, classified by type of entity.
Ideas for transformative actions for companies/entities
- Advance the time you leave work. Close the company/entity at 7 p.m.
- Compact your lunch hour. Have lunch for 30 or 45 minutes and leave before work.
- Implement teleworking. Pilot a 37.5-hour work week. If this goal has already been achieved, greater reductions of 35 or 32 hours per week can be made.
- Digital disconnection. Implement a digital disconnection protocol and/or take specific measures to ensure it, such as turning off notifications after a certain time, if you have a company cell phone, turning it off at the end of working hours, etc.
- Apply synchronous and asynchronous schedules between teams. Establish time slots where the entire team is available (where meetings, gatherings, etc. can be held) and time slots with flexible hours (at check-in, check-out, meal times) to facilitate work-life balance.
- Change the schedules of public events so that they are aligned with circadian rhythms. Establish meals at healthy times (lunch at 1pm and dinner at 8pm), not ending later than 10pm.
- Implement a pilot test of measures to increase autonomy in the management of working time: (hour bags, recoverable flexibility, etc.).
Ideas for transformative actions for local entities
- Debate in the municipal plenary or processing of a municipal motion to identify needs and opportunities for improving the use of time in the municipality and issue a position.
- Advance the prime time of local media. Advance the prime time of local television for one day so that it is before 10 p.m.
- Change the schedules of public events so that they are aligned with circadianzrhythms. Establish meals at healthy times (lunch at 1 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m.), do not finish later than 10 p.m.
