The Right to Time in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

The Time Use Week is the international event for the promotion and exchange of knowledge and success stories about time policies. Researchers, political institutions, companies, social organizations, and citizens from around the world will participate and collaborate, each contributing from their different fields of knowledge and expertise, to achieve improvement in the social organization of time. This year marks the twelfth edition, with events being held throughout Catalonia during the entire month of October. The main events will be held in Barcelona on October 13, 14, and 15, under the theme “The Right to Time in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”.
Time policies are measures that modify established social time structures with the aim of combating time poverty and, in turn, promoting the right to time for all citizens. Achieving this right means moving towards a more equitable, healthy, efficient, and sustainable society. With this in mind, the emergence of artificial intelligence, as well as additional technological advances, presents us with a new horizon of possibilities for addressing the challenges in improving the organization of time use.
Time Use Week 2025 invites us to reflect on how the uses of time that are emerging at this moment of digital transformation are impacting the right to time. This will be an opportunity to address the demographic, economic, social, political, and care challenges we face.
Those participating in the Time Use Week in person will enjoy a wide variety of exclusive activities such as inspiring conferences and round tables, interactive workshops, networking opportunities, etc. All events are designed to strengthen the community and foster the exchange of ideas and experiences. If unable to attend in person, participants will have the opportunity to join the main events virtually, as they will be streamed online.

Side Events & Transformative Actions
For those who cannot attend the main events, Time Use Week will feature parallel events throughout Catalonia, organized by agents committed to making the right to time a reality. In addition, this year the distinction of “collaborating organization” of Time Use Week is reinforced, which will recognize the active role of those entities that promote transformative initiatives to improve time use within the framework of the Week.
